Overview
Athletics consists of consists of various track & field disciplines : track disciplines at a stadium, including 100 meters and relay races ; field disciplines such as the long jump and shot put ; and road disciplines, e.g. marathons.

called a "racer" is light-weighted
using carbon and titaniumThese events attract the participation of a wide range of athletes, including those using a wheelchair or a prosthetic limb, and those who are visually impaired. Competitions are classified according to the type and the extent of athletes' impairments.
Athletes in a wheelchair use a sport-specific wheelchair called a "racer." Lower limb amputees use a sport-specific prosthetic limb. Visually impaired athletes run with a guide runner to enable them to run toward a goal safely.
Each discipline is divided into many classes according to the type and the extent of athletes' impairments, providing fair and equitable competition among athletes with similar impairments.History
Athletics has been an official sport since the first Paralympic Games in Rome in 1960. At the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, 29 disciplines were held in total, including 15 men's and women's track disciplines, 12 men's and women's field disciplines, and men's and women's marathons.
