A video to support the reconstruction of areas affected by the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake: “See you in Tokyo and Kumamoto in 2020.”

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been undertaking various projects after the earthquake to realize the “Recovery and Reconstruction Games,” which are the origins of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, in order to cheer up people in the disaster-affected area through the power of sports.
This video about Kumamoto Prefecture, which was seriously damaged by the Kumamoto Earthquake in April 2016, has been produced to express gratitude for heartwarming support from around the world.
We will actively promote this video in and out of Japan, hoping it will prompt many people from around the world to visit Kumamoto and also help further reconstruction of the region.

In this video, Seiichiro Maki, a former Japan national football player from Kumamoto Prefecture who has strenuously helped the prefecture’s reconstruction since right after the disaster, expresses thanks for heartwarming support from around the world. It also shows how Kumamoto is working to reconstruct itself through the power of sports, including the staging of world-class competitions there in handball, rugby and other events.
