Tokyo 2020 Games Appreciation Ceremony, Tokyo Medal of Honor and Tokyo Residents Sports Award Ceremony was held

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) presented Certificates of Appreciation on Tuesday 26 October 2021 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building to those who have contributed to the success of the Tokyo 2020 Games.
In addition, TMG presented Tokyo Residents Sports Awards to medallists from the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 who have a connection to Tokyo and Tokyo Medals of Honor to gold medallists.
The ceremonies were live streamed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Official Video Channel.

Tokyo Medal of Honor

Established in 2004, the Tokyo Medal of Honor honors individuals who have gained the admiration and appreciation of Tokyo residents through their distinctive achievements and efforts to inspire dreams and hopes, vitalize society, and increase recognition of Tokyo.

Tokyo Residents Sports Award

Established in 2008, the Tokyo Residents Sports Award honors athletes who achieve excellent results in world-class sports competition. This award also expresses the pride and admiration felt by the residents of Tokyo.
